Vím, že u předmětů z omezené množiny identifikovaných číslem či jinak (figure A, page 20, door A). Proč to ale nejde u položek menu u programů? Click on the Save button x on button Save?

Je třeba poznat, o jaký styl v tom kterém případě jde.

1. “Full-text” English: all grammatical conventions are used, including articles, correct tenses and verb forms.
2. “Headline” / “shorthand” / “instruction” / “short-form” / “notes-style” English: articles are omitted, tenses and verb forms are simplified.

In your example:

• Click on the Save button – ok. This is “full-text” (normal-style) English (style 1 above)
• Click on button Save / Click on Save button – ok. This is “instruction” (short-form) English (style 2 above).

Díky, takže to není to samé jako u page 5, figure B, Protože tam by to se členem bylo špatně . Nevím tedy ale, v čem je to jiné?

Asi v tom, že page 5, figure B, table (a), diagram C atd. cítíme jako jméno nebo název. Tomorrow we're going to the Prague Castle , the restaurant is in/on the Wenceslas Square, the plane lands at the London Heathrow, I hope the Father Christmas brings me all the presents I asked for, they're getting married on the Easter Sunday, atd.

Apart from univerbal proper names such as John, Helsinki, the clearest case of the ‘null’ article is presented by appositional constructions which are partly found among proper names, both personal and geographical, cf. Dr Brown, Professor Smith, Captain Cook; Lake Michigan, Mount Everest, and analogous instances like the Emperor Napoleon, (the) Czar Alexander, (the) Archduke Ferdinand, (the) Reverend John Smith (…) However, the construction is not confined to proper names. (…) It also occurs with common nouns, which again here display both types of determiner: ‘null’ alongside the definite article.

Díky Dane, asi to tak tedy budu brát Ale stejně bych si mohl říct, že je to název či jméno té položky, které ji jednoznačně identifikuje (Save button atd).
