The Great Barrier reef
Great Barrier Reef is the biggest coral-reef on the Word. It lies near the town
Queensland (north-east Australia) in which is the national park Russell River.
Great Barrier Reef is above 2000 kilometers long and big part of this
coral-reef is protected as Great Barrier Reef Marine Park. Since year
1981 whole coral-reef is under protect of UNESCO. The longest coral-reef on the
world lies near the north-east coast of Australia in the Coral sea.It is the
only construction of living creatures, which you can see from the moon.
Aborigines gave it the name Waga Gabú. It is created by 400 kinds of corals.
There live a lot of different kinds of animals, for example thousands kinds of
fishes, tens kinds of sea serpents, crustacean and mussels. These animals create
complicated ecosystem, which we can compare it only with ecosystem of tropical
rain forest. Scientists discovered that the coral reef is only 600 thousand
years old. There are two pictures of underwater live in this area.
