Alebo celá veta v minulom čase je správne, a teda:

Podľa mňa, obe vety sú správne, ale vyjadrujú niečo iné :

Ten vkus má dotyčný stále, všeobecne, aj teraz, je to všeobecne pravda, na všeobecne platiace pravdy sa použiva present simple.
Ten vkus mal dotyčný len vtedy, všetko musí byť preto v minulosti.

Správně může být obojí.

… even though it is not (to) your taste. … i když se ti to (ted') nezamlouvá
… even though it was not (to) your taste. … i když se ti to (tehdy) nezamlouvalo

The version with „to“ (to your taste) is much more common – see the Ngram.
