Cult Movies – What Are They?

Monty Python and the Holy Grail, Blues Brothers, or Pulp Fiction. Have you ever any of these films? Each of these movies is a perfect example of a cult film.

When a movie only a small group of fans but the fans love the movie, it’s called a cult movie or a cult film. Not every movie is a success. Sometimes a new movie sells very tickets. If a movie doesn't attract a big audience it is first released but has a small, loyal audience, then it is the definition of a cult film.

Think the movies Monty Python and the Holy Grail, Blues Brothers, or Pulp Fiction. Not everyone likes these movies, but the people do like them are crazy about them. However, Jurrassic Park, Star Wars, or Titanic aren't examples of cult films. Everyone loves these movies! Many cult movies are works of art they may be too complicated for the public. Other cult films may be too different or so strange only a small audience appreciates them. But, don't forget, this small audience will ecstatic about the film. And finally, some cult movies are loved because they are terrible. Fans might say that the movies are so bad that they’re  .

In the United States, movie theaters often cult films at midnight for less money. In fact, this is a good way know if a film has achieved ‘cult’ status – only die-hard fans will pay for a ticket to see a film at midnight. is much more to cult movies than just watching them. For example, two of the most famous cult films, The Big Lebowski and The Rocky Horror Picture Show, have festivals every year. At the festivals, fans dress in costumes like main characters.
