Dobrý večer,
zajímalo by mě, jak v angličtině vyjádřit, že nějaký děj proběhl
např. z noci na sobotu. Kdybych chtěl např. říci
“Přepravili jsme se trajektem do Calais z noci na sobotu”. Jak byste toto
spojení vyjádřili?

We took the overnight ferry to Calais on Friday, arriving on Saturday. (meh)
To be honest, the Czech is much more concise.

“On Friday night” doesn't really convey that it was an overnight thing…

Thanks a lot. Later I only thought of “During the night we took the ferry to Calais”.
PS.: What about the article in my sentence? Because I can't consider between “we took a ferry” and “we took the ferry”. Both of them sound correct to me. In the first sentence I am giving new information to the listener and in the second one I mean that it's one, specific ferry we took. What do think about it?

To me, the indefinite article sounds better. But wait for others to respond!

Both are correct in the way you describe (new info vs specific info).
