NECKACHE

Dobrý den,

existuje slovíčko „neckache“ („neck ache“)?

nee. jen sore throat – bolest v krku

Právě, že se mi to taky nezdálo, ale tohle slůvko (společně s headache, stomach ache, backache, earache, backache a heartache) je uvedeno ve článku „Pleteme si: Bolestivá slůvka“ … Tak jsem si nebyla jistá. Ale ani v jednom ze slovníků jsem ho nenašla … =)

ale tady v článku je užito neckache, ale nedaří se mi to ověřit v nějakém výkladovém slovníku

setkala jsem se spíše s: My legs ache, kde ache je sloveso.

tady doporučují použít:
if your neck hurts = „I've got neckache.“ or ""My neck aches."

bavíme se ale o bolesti za krkem, ne o bolesti v krku!

You can say „neckache“, but it's not as widely used as some of the other „aches“.

zajímavý rozdíl mezi BrE a AmE:

BrE: I´ve got toothache. I´ve had toothache tree times this week. (nepočitatelné)

AmE: I´ve a toothache. (počitatelné)

Ty rozdíly mezi britskou a americkou angličtinou se mi občas zdají neuchopitelné a nečekané 

And we wouldn't even say „I've a toothache“ – we'd say „I have a toothache“ – we don't contract I and HAVE…

And I feel the same – sometimes I think BrE is so STRANGE!!

AmE: I have a toothache.

Oi! Read Bill Bryson's book about the history of the English language, and you'll find that we in America speak English the way it was spoken 300 years ago…in England.
