Holidays to forget
Last August, I went to Greece with two friends. We found a small hotel near the sea that looked nice online. The price was good, and the reviews seemed fine. We were really looking forward to some sunshine and good food.
But things didn’t go exactly as planned.
When we arrived, the weather was grey and rainy – not what we expected from Greece in summer! Our hotel room was smaller than in the photos, and the shower didn’t work very well. Still, we tried to stay positive.
On our second evening, we went to a small restaurant by the harbour. I ordered some seafood – it looked fresh, but it didn’t taste right. A few hours later, I started to feel terrible. I spent the whole night in the bathroom and the next day in bed. After that, I only ate toast and drank tea, while my friends enjoyed Greek dishes without me.
To make things worse, there was a bar next to our hotel that played loud dance music every night. The walls were thin, and the noise lasted until after 2 a.m. We barely slept all week.
In the end, it really wasn’t the holiday we’d hoped for. But sometimes things just go wrong – and you laugh about it later.
